Joint Working Group on Economic Cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan
The first meeting of the Joint Working Group on Economic Cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan was held on July 15-16th, 2019 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi, Acting Minister of Finance and Senior Advisor to H.E. the President on Infrastructure Affairs, on behalf of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Mr. Sahib Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on behalf of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the participation of government representatives of both countries.
The parties met in a friendly environment and reaffirmed further expansion and strengthening of trade and economic relations between the two countries and emphasized the key role of the Joint Working Group to achieve the mutual goals and approved the agenda of the Meeting.
The protocol of the 1st Joint Working Group on Economic Cooperation between the two countries was signed, at the end of the session. The protocol consists of cooperation in areas of trade and investment, customs, energy, oil and gas, transport and transit,
ICT, public service delivery, social innovations and digital governance, higher education and cooperation in the field of food security.
